- Subject: "OWNER" of databases at BBSERV locations
-
- 1 We can have up to 50 separate databases with BBSERV
- 2 Each may be assigned an "OWNER" or editor to maintain their section or
- directory(s) as needed.
- 3 SIG's may also be formed around a database for forum type discusssions
- help & whatever. The "OWNER" would be the one in charge of the SIG.
- Users "REGISTERING" in the SIG would receive whatever the "OWNER" sent
- out as far as indexes, announcements, ideas, editorial comments & etc.
- using an automatcally generated distribution list and a single message
- to BBSERV from the "OWNER"
- 4 In any case the "OWNER" will be able to put, get, kill, change & index
- files in their database at will. He may retreive files put in a holding
- directory by his users which he may edit or file as he wishes. He will
- be in complete charge with minimal assistance from the sysop.
- 5.Users would not have the ability to do more than retreive files & place
- comments in the section with a file using their CALL.TXT, it being replaced
- by any new files sent.Users file uploads are placed in a holding directory
- for indexing, editing & approval of the "OWNER" before placement in the
- database.
- 6. Any station wishing to be an "OWNER" of a database for either a SIG or
- a database will have to have the database assigned by the sysop and
- receive further instuctions as to it's use.
- 7. A PUT command by the owner will place files directly into the database
- and EDITING is done by a complete replacement of the file by the owner.
- 8. A KILL command will actually kill the file stated in the Subject command
- 9. The owner may path to his \UPL\ directory to read what users have placed
- in it and retrieve the file , edit it and place it back into the regular
- directory for users to read.
- 10. It may take some time to train an "Owner" to run his database but after
- a few tries it will work OK.
- 11. As users register in the owners database a distribution file is created
- in your msg directory with a name of q(dir).cc An owner may distribute
- messages to this list by sending a message to Q(Dir)@Yourbbs and the
- message will be copied to all his registered users. Possibly you might
- use action.bb to keep any messages not from the owner to Q(Dir) from
- being copied and sent out.
